Keeping Manufacturing in Australia
Water Wise Water Trucks is an Australian owned manufacturing business producing products for the dust suppression industry.
Traditionally we used offshore machining companies focused in Asia. Most business owners see this as their first and only real choice to be competitive in the market. There is a stigma around manufacturing within Australia and for good reason. It seemed that each time I would get quotes from local companies the prices were so high it would cost me more for the components than what the market would pay for the completed product, This kept forcing us back to the Asian manufacturers. Over time this led to our suppliers counterfeiting our products.
This caused me to search out and make contact with just about every machining company on the east coast. I quickly found that companies using old inefficient machines would pass on the costs of their inefficiencies. I then turned my attention to companies that operated purely CNC equipment and this led me to David Bridges from CNC Manufacturing.
Water Wise Operations Manager, Simon Jones stated that “With the cost of sourcing and importing product that suited both the Australian and International markets, we were determined to design a better water cannon and have it made locally where we could control quality and supply. When we finally found David Bridges at CNC Manufacturing we were amazed at both the quality and economy of working with a local CNC Machining company. David worked with us to develop precision formed components for the new P651 and the end result far outshone anything we had seen from OS suppliers”.
